Eqela was first launched in Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona. Since the MWC is starting again today, it's a good time to look back to how it all went so far.

2012: Eqela in Mobile World Congress, Barcelona

In February 2012, when we first launched Eqela for the general public (after having developed it and used it for our own development for quite some time), we had a great product, lots of good ideas and a load of enthusiasm. We knew it was going to be big. We had great partners that we worked with in MWC, and we had a fantastic show. People we met in MWC were consistently blown away, and were often reluctant to believe that such a tool (that converts programming languages to achieve cross platform development capabilities) would be possible, yet strangely they were seeing it working in front of their eyes. It was really fun for our entire exhibition team to get such a profoundly positive collection of feedback from the prime audience in the mobile industry. We got a lot of memorable quotes from our visitors, which we also tweeted at the time. Here are some of our highlights:

"Is there anything you canNOT do?” (one of the booth visitors)

"Looks just like C#. Can't see any difference. This is how we can work with Android and iOS” (A Microsoft developer)

"I have a long list of people to meet, but I'm not going to meet them anymore. They don't understand me. You do.” (apparently we were doing well with both our product AND in listening to our customers)

Someone compared us to another company in an adjacent hall: "You have a compiler. The other company, I think they are liars.”

"The feeling when you see their reaction after they understand Eqela .. It is priceless.” (one of our engineers manning the booth at the exhibition)

2013: Eqela on the workstations of developers

In the year that has passed, Eqela itself has evolved in many ways. While the "amazing” fundamental programming language translation technology continues to be just as amazing as it was, the tools have been greatly improved, made faster, with new features implemented and new target platforms supported. We introduced Eqela Live, allowing Eqela development to take place on the web, using a cloud-based compilation facility. We improved the graphical IDE options for Eqela development, and continue to do so. Just recently we released Eqela v1.2 with numerous added features and improvements. Overall, the product that amazed so many in 2012 should definitely amaze many more in 2013.

But aside from us enhancing the product, what is really encouraging is the users, the interest, and the user feedback. The last time I checked, our community of registered Eqela users covered more than 30 countries, and the user base keeps growing daily. Many people and organizations have been trained in Eqela development, and our seminars and development sessions have proven very popular. Overall, the user adoption and enthusiasm has been as amazing as the product, and we can see the growth rate accelerating. If you have not yet jumped on the Eqela wagon, get started today by registering your Eqela account and trying it out.

2014: Eqela in the future

Obviously our story does not end there; we are just getting started, but what a start it has been! We have many plans and targets in our roadmap for the product to grow to be even better, and clearly our user base keeps getting bigger as well. To see what the future holds for Eqela, I would want to encourage you to like Eqela on Facebook and/or follow Eqela on Twitter, and to follow the Eqela Developer Blog in order to join the community, and to follow our news and announcements. In the meantime, let's all join to develop the impossible!
